The Ashes Cricket Memorabilia

The Cricket TV series, known as The Ashes, was not only controversial, but also very memorable. This is because many great legendary cricket heroes show impressive world-class performances in their games.

The origin of the Ashes trophy comes from the fact that in 1882, when Australia defeated England in a cricket match on the Oval, an obituary was placed in the Sporting Times magazine stating that the cricket game was dead and after cremation, the ashes were to be placed into an urn and was about to be taken to Australia.

The ensuing tour, which took place in 1882-1883, was touted by English newspapers as an attempt by England to recover the ashes.

During the tour, a group of women from Melbourne donated a terracotta urn containing a small amount of ashes (said to be the contents of burnt cricket equipment) donated to the then England cricket captain Ivo Bligh.

Ash souvenirs have become collectibles, including items such as cricket cards, travel brochures and booklets.

International Test and ODI continue to be the most popular autographed cricket commemoratives, with Ashes-tagged autographs being the most collectible at a particular event. Over the years, a wonderful array of memorabilia have emerged from the ashes, and I have no doubt that there will be more in the coming years.

Cricket is now played in over 100 countries, making Cricket Memorabilia a very high-quality, desirable and sortable product.

You can find many great deals on cricket and memorabilia from the ashes, not only in your local collector's shops, but also online. You just need to search for your specific items a little and you will come across them in just a few minutes.
